Shirley Y. Peterson

Shirley Yvonne Peterson September 18, 1927 – October 24, 2016

Shirley Y. Peterson, 89, of Gilbert Arizona passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 with her family surrounding her. She is preceded in death by husband Roy W. Peterson. They were married 45 years before his death.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters; Diane Y. Scoggins, and Nancy J. Redd. She has 4 grandchildren : Amy Colleary, Nikki Taylor, Alexander Redd and Timothy

Nystrom. She has 5 great grandchildren: Benjamin Colleary, Andrew Taylor, Ethan Taylor, Regan Nystrom and Gibson Nystrom.

Shirley was born and grew up in Ashland, Wisconsin; a town on the shores of Lake Superior.   Roy and Shirley moved to Minneapolis in 1956. They felt there would be more opportunities for their family in the large city. It was there they raised their two daughters. When their daughter Diane moved to Mesa they decided they would like to leave the cold country. She and Roy were always happy with their decision.

Shirley loved life and was always fun to be around. She was a wonderful cook and loved trying new recipes. The day of her stroke she had gone to lunch with her granddaughter Amy, and daughter Diane. She lived life to the fullest until the very end. Shirley leaves a legacy of love and service to her family and freinds.

at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4170 S Ranch House Parkway, Gilbert, AZ 85297. Service begins at 11:00 a.m. with visitation for family and friends in the Relief Society Room from 10:15 until 11:00 a.m.
