Dirk was born in Owyhee, NV November 3,1957 to John & Sally Honeycutt. He was the second of four children: Jonna, Dirk, Maryellen, and Mitchell. They moved to Sells, AZ when he was 3 years old, to Pinetop, AZ in 1963, and to Thailand in 1967. The family moved back to Parker, AZ 1971 and then settled in Yuma, AZ. Dirk attended Parker High School and Kofa High in Yuma, where he graduated. He wrestled and played football for both High Schools and won many awards. He then attended AZ Western College.
