Angelita “Voodie” Garcia Gonzales
age 73, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2021, after a long battle with COVID-19. She was born on September 11, 1947, in Casa Grande, Arizona to Jose and Victoria Garcia. She eloped and married Epifanio Salcido Gonzales in October of 1966. Angelita is preceded in death by her husband “Chano.”
Angelita loved all people and was the first to give her last dollar to someone in need and always made sure no one was hungry in her presence. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Angelita is survived by her sister Delia Salcido, brother Manuel Garcia and wife Delia, sisters Elena Nieto & Rita Garcia, children Elda Gina Gonzales-Popkins, Raúl Gonzales (Susana Quezada), Elle’ Gonzales-Bland, Fran Stanton (Jason Stanton); grandchildren Jared Michael Popkins, Jack Clayton Popkins, Raúl Tyler Gonzales (Hannah Richardson), Valeria Quezada, Sebastian Gonzales, Victoria Gonzales, Lily Leilani Bland.
