It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Austin Kane Comfort, who was born on January 31, 1997, to Jesse Comfort and Jennifer Samson. Austin passed away unexpectedly at his home in Phoenix, Arizona, on October 18, 2026.
As we reflect on Austin’s life, we remember a man whose loyalty to those closest to him ran deep, whose kindness and compassion extended to those facing life’s struggles, and whose sense of humor could either make you laugh or roll your eyes.
Shortly after graduating from high school in May 2018, Austin joined Texas Medical Distributors, where he worked at the company’s Tempe, Arizona, distribution facility until his passing. During his time there, he had the unique opportunity to be mentored by his grandfather, Jeff Comfort. Austin took pride in his work and in the accomplishments he and his grandfather achieved together. Through this experience, he continued to grow as a young man, taking important steps toward adulthood. His absence will be deeply felt by his coworkers, especially his grandfather, whom he affectionately referred to as “the Old Man.”
Austin filled his life with a variety of interests and hobbies, including ATV riding, digital gaming, advocating for personal liberties, spending time with family, and his passion for sport shooting and firearms. He spent countless hours with his closest friends, Mike and Dylan, customizing his truck, target shooting, gunsmithing, gaming, and simply enjoying life together.
Austin also loved looking out for his Aunt Pam, with whom he shared a home and who appreciated his kind heart. He relied heavily on his grandmother, Mary, for guidance through financial challenges and support when facing difficult decisions, but above all, for the unwavering love and affection she gave him. To Austin, she was his beloved “Mare Bear.” He also shared a special paternal bond with his godson, Ezra, whom he loved as if he were his own son.
Austin is survived by his father, Jesse Comfort, and his mother, Jennifer Culpepper; his sisters, Savanah Comfort, Alyia Culpepper, and Alexis Culpepper; his grandparents, Mary and Jeff Comfort and Jane Swan; his aunt, Chelsea Hixson (Ryan); and his uncle, Jim Samson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday November 15, 2026 at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Remote viewing will be available for those unable to attend in person through a digital meeting link. Reception details will be announced at a later date.
Family, friends, and all who wish to honor Austin’s memory are warmly invited to join us in celebrating his life.
Flowers are appreciated. However, for those who would prefer to honor causes and interests close to Austin’s heart, consider supporting your local tattoo parlor or gun shop in lieu of floral arrangements.
