Betty Ann (Conley) Wolfmeyer

On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, 
Betty Ann (Conley) Wolfmeyer, Sun Lakes, Arizona, slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God. Betty passed away, unexpectedly, at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Arizona.

 

She was born in Riceville, Kentucky on August 15, 1940, to Bruce and Ruby Ellen (Spears) Conley. Betty grew up in Carey, Ohio and was a 1959 graduate of Carey High School.  

 

After graduating high school, Betty moved to Chicago, IL where she worked for American Airlines and was an administrative assistant for Corn Products in Chicago, IL where she met Howard Wolfmeyer. They were married on November 24,1976.  In 1995 they moved from Libertyville, Illinois and retired to Sun Lakes, Arizona.  

 

Betty enjoyed playing golf and socializing with her golf friends, knitting, needlepoint, collecting cookbooks and pelicans.

 

Betty was a member of Sun Lakes United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with the Stephens Ministry and Neighbors Who Care. Neighbors Who Care held a special place in her heart as her husband, Howard Wolfmeyer, was one of the founders of this organization that strives to assist seniors to remain independent and live fulfilling lives in their own homes in the Sun Lakes Area.

 

She is survived by a brother Paul (Bonnie) Conley, Carey, Ohio; three nephews:  Michael (Karen) Conley, Blythewood SC, David (Karen) Conley, Palmetto FL, and Jeffrey (Becky) Conley, Upper Sandusky, Ohio; five great nieces:  Marla KayConley, Kathryn Conley, Allison Conley, Kendra Conley and Kyla Conley. Stepson Thomas Wolfmeyer, Marlton, New Jersey,step daughter-in-law, Mariana WolfmeyerIL and step grandchildren, Tim Wolfmeyer, Washington DC, Gail (WolfmeyerJadick, Lake Bluff, IL and David Wolfmeyer,Downers Grove, IL. She is also survived by several step-great grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wolfmeyer and a stepsonScott Wolfmeyer.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requestthat memorials be made to Neighbors Who Care: 10450 E. Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, AZ  85248, or Sun Lakes United Methodist Church Memorial Fund: 9248 E. Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248.

 

Memorial services will be held in Sun Lakes, Arizona and Carey, Ohio at a later time. Final resting pace will be in Appleton, Wisconsin with her husband, Howard Wolfmeyer.
