Life Story

Betty was born to Authur and Esther Bagley July 22, 1936. She had one younger sister, Mary.

Betty attended Baldwin Park High School, Baldwin Park, CA., and graduated in1954. After high school, Betty worked at Bank of America in Baldwin Park, CA.  She was married to John Branek on February 17, 1957.  Soon after their marriage, she worked as the bookkeeper for the family business.  They were married for 27 years.

Betty had three children, Sherry Smith, Rick Branek and Susan Branek Antaky.

Betty began working for the city of Baldwin Park in the 1980’s as a Business License Clerk and later became Deputy City Clerk.

A few years later Betty met Ernie Cox at First Southern Baptist Church, El Monte, CA. and after a brief courtship they married on November 28, 1997.   They lived in California, Nevada, Colorado, Alabama, and Arizona.  They were both a huge help to Susan and her family through the years.

Betty proclaimed her faith in Christ at an early age.  Although she grew up in Southern California, she also spent time in Texas with her grandparents.  She taught Sunday School for many years.

Betty had a great sense of humor and had a contagious laugh…this was passed down to her children and grandchildren.

She loved playing games…like dominoes and solitaire on the computer.

Betty would make her signature Cowboy Cookies during the holidays along with fruit salad…which was always a big hit!

Betty was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend.

Betty is survived by her husband Ernie Cox of 27 years, Daughters Sherry Smith and Susan Branek Antaky, Son Rick Branek, Son-in-laws Jerry Smith and Mark Antaky, Daughter-in-law Theresa Branek, seven grandchildren and many, many friends.
