Betty Jane Hawley Tate, age 94, passed away peacefully with family on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Loving Hearts Group Home in Mesa, Arizona. She was born April 27, 1927 in Phoenix, Arizona at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She was a graduate of Phoenix Union High School. She was married to Forrest G. Tate for 33 years and together they had four boys. She is survived by her boys James (Jim) Tate and (Dana), Robert (Bob) Tate (Lois), Terry Tate, (DarIa) and Charles (Charlie) Tate, 9 grandchildren (2 deceased), 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents James (Da) and Helen (Nana) Hawley, Jim (Sonny) Hawley, granddaughter, Tiffany Tate- Eckes and grandson, Cory Tate.

Betty was born and went to school in Phoenix but lived most of her life in the Chandler area. She was a mother and homemaker and did enjoy her short time when she worked in a dress shop. Her main purpose in life was caring for and raising her four boys. They were all the true joy of her life and she was always involved in everything they did. She also enjoyed dancing, playing slot machines at the casinos, playing bridge and other card games with friends. She also liked watching any kind of sports on TV. Her favorite team was the Phoenix Suns. She loved watching NASCAR Racing as well. Betty also was an animal lover and had many pets over lifetime that were lucky to have her as their mom.

There will be a viewing at Bueler Chandler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, Arizona 85225 on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 5pm – 7pm. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 will be a private family service at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler, Arizona.
