Charles E. Brinton
passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, 15 November 2022, after suffering a lengthy mental illness. He was 73. Charlie was born in Mesa to Van B. Brinton, Jr. and Ruth Freestone Brinton, the first of seven children. As a Boy Scout in Troop 256, Charlie enjoyed camping, backpacking and working on merit badges, ultimately earning the rank of Eagle, thereby inspiring his four younger brothers to earn the same award. Charlie enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and four younger brothers. He played Church softball and was a member of the Junior Varsity tennis and wrestling teams at Westwood High School, where he also excelled in learning Spanish. After serving faithfully in the Mexico North Mission (Agua Prieta, Hermosillo, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Culiacan, and Mazatlan), Charlie enrolled at Mesa Community College, where he mastered French.
Charlie is survived by his brother Mark, Kathy (Steve Kittelson), Steve (Joyce), David (Kathryn) and Florence (Greg).
Despite suffering the ravages of his illness, Charlie always greeted his visitors cheerfully and thanked them sincerely when they left.
