Chet Massingill Sr.
, 75 years old, went home to our Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2020. He was with family in his home, surrounded by love.
Chet is preceded in death by his parents, Chester & Flora Massingill, his son, Joseph Darrell Massingill, and his granddaughter, Paige Joanalynn Feidler. He is in peaceful perfection, but the hearts of his loved ones still here on earth ache with the gaping hole his absence has left in our lives.
Chet loved his family fiercely, with a rare kind of sacrificial love that cares for others, putting their needs ahead of his own. He was an amazing cook, adept at cuisine from all over the world. Chet could repair just about anything, and his green thumb gave life to countless gardens, fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables, trees, and plants.
He loved to read, was a fan of correct grammar, proper diction and was one of the most intelligent people you’d ever meet (a formidable adversary in Jeopardy and Trivial Pursuit). He served bravely in the U.S Army stationed in South Korea and was honorably discharged in 1965.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Chet did everything in life deliberately and with integrity. A celebration of life is being held on Saturday, March 14th at 12:30 at Redemption Church Gilbert.
In place of flowers, we ask that you donate in honor of
