“Danny” “Dan”

Daniel L. Maxey, 66 years old, passed away in Mesa, AZ on October 12, 2021. He valiantly fought Stage 4 Stomach Cancer for over two years. Dan was born in Morgantown, WV on May 12, 1955, to Barbara Maxey and Dr. Stephen Maxey. He was the second of five sons. Dan attended Carlsbad, NM schools and played varsity basketball and football.

He was a private land surveyor for 13 years and a Federal Land Surveyor for 27 years at the Bureau of Land Management, Arizona State Office, Phoenix, AZ. Dan was very well-respected in this field and always willing to assist others with survey questions. He retired on August 30, 2019.

He married Diane Finley of Roswell, NM. They raised three children. David (Traci) Maxey, Buckeye, AZ; Dustin (Tori) Maxey, Ahwatukee, AZ, and Danette Maxey, Mesa, AZ. They divorced in 2013.

He married Tami Emmett, Mesa, AZ on the Caribbean beach of Negril, Jamaica on May 1, 2018.

Danny loved spending time with his grandchildren and is survived by eight of them: Nathan Maxey; Chance Worley; Shelby, Amy, and Bill Maxey; Taytum and Colton Nelson; and Charles Hammis.  He is survived by his wife Tami and mother Barbara (Albuquerque). He is also survived by his brothers; Doug (Stephanie) Maxey; Peoria, AZ; Phil (Jayne) Maxey; Carlsbad. NM; Kenny Maxey; Albuquerque, Paul (Linda) Maxey; Montgomery, TX.

He enjoyed watching AZ Cardinals Football and PGA Golf Tournaments. He loved all types of music and concerts. He had a great sense of humor, was a good friend to all, and an all-around good guy. He was a great father and grandpa, son, husband, and brother. We will miss you.

A Celebration of his Life was held in Mesa, AZ on Oct. 16, 2021.
