Darrell Brent Jones, 51, beloved husband and father, and respected business owner, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on October 16th from cancer. He was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona in a busy household as the sixth of seven children. He graduated from McClintock High School in 1993.
Darrell served an LDS mission in the Ecuador, Guayaquil mission from 1994-1996. He earned a Bachelor’s of Business degree from Brigham Young University and later went on to earn his CPA license.
Darrell met his wife Aubrey at BYU and they married August 21,1998 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They moved back to Tempe, Arizona, where they grew their family, welcoming four daughters and their son, Parker, who was stillborn.
After working at American Express Darrell joined his father in the family accounting firm. He served numerous clients in the Phoenix area and was well respected by clients and peers. He was a long-standing member of LeTip International (a networking group), and served on the board of his local chapter helping other small business owners.
He had a large accounting practice and served many clients and friends as a tax expert. He truly loved his work and found great satisfaction in helping clients and friends.
Darrell was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and loved his time with the church. He enjoyed many responsibilities including bishopric, and most recently teaching the 3 year olds with his wife, which he loved.
Darrell found so much joy in the simple things in life, from his weekly Costco trips with his youngest to cheering on his favorite sports teams. He loved all kinds of sports, especially ASU, and whether he was watching a game from home or heading to one with his brothers, sports brought a lot of joy to his life.
Some of his favorite memories were made camping with friends and family year after year and taking family vacations together, especially to the beaches of San Diego.
Above all, he had a tender heart and a deep love for his family. He was an amazing girl dad who never hesitated to get down on the floor and play dolls with his daughters. He spent countless hours watching the many gymnastic, dance, cheer, and choir performances his daughters were involved in. He loved spoiling his girls, including his wife, and found so much happiness in making them feel loved.
He has been preceded in death by his son Parker, and his parents Delwin and Maurine.
He is survived by his wife Aubrey and daughters Jamie Knudsen (Drew), Courtney, Whitney, and Addie. And brothers Randall (Gayle), Gordon (Ruth), Craig (Colene), Keith (Tamee), Brian (Lanae), sister Collette, and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Services will be Saturday, October 24th at the LDS Church, 1050 W. Grove Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85283. Public viewing at 8:30-9:30 am, Funeral Service at 10:00 am.
