David (Dave) E. Von Tersch
passed away peacefully on October 5, 2022, following an extended battle with Parkinson’s. Dave was born October 5, 1950, in Sioux City, Iowa and was one of eight children. Dave was preceded by the love of his life Jean (Jeannie), twin sister Sally and two sisters Joan and Angie. Dave is survived by his two daughters, Lara Clagett and Stephanie Jones, stepchildren Shirley Archuletta, Darci Strang and Toby Ellis, his sister Jeanette (Nettie) Graham, and three brothers, Sid, Tim and James Von Tersch. Dave served in the Navy from 1970 to 1976 before starting a career in electrical engineering.
A proud and devoted veteran, Dave loved giving back to his community through his efforts with the American Legion, frequently sending his children and family pictures and articles about flag ceremonies and events that he supported. Dave was an avid bike rider and participated in multiple rides supporting philanthropy and charity. Dave loved to dance and was a popular dance partner at his local recreation center; he loved getting gussied up in his western duds and donning his signature black Stetson before strutting his stuff. He was known for his jokes and could always be counted on during social events for a laugh.
A graveside service will be held November 18, 2022, at 1:30 pm at Cave Creek National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024. Celebration of life to follow at 4:00 pm at Native Grill and Wings, 5030 E. Ray Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85044.
A memorial service will be held at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 3501 E. Chandler Blvd., Phoenix on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:00 am.
