Delwin Grant Jones
, 84, of Tempe, AZ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 in Mesa, AZ.
Delwin was born November 22, 1936 in Virden, New Mexico, to parents, Parley Penrose Jones and Dorothy Lillian Mortensen Jones. In Virden, he and his four siblings helped with the family farm. After a 2½ year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Uruguay, he attended Brigham Young University, earning an accounting degree. He later received an MBA from Arizona State University.
In 1961 he married his sweetheart Maurine Tufts Jones whom he met at BYU. They were married in the Cardston Alberta Temple.
After working for American Express for many years, he started his own accounting practice in 1988 in Tempe, AZ. He continued to work daily at his office until just three weeks prior to his passing.
He and Maurine served two service missions together and they also served many years together as workers in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Delwin is survived by his wife Maurine and seven children, Randall (Gayle), Gordon (Ruth), Craig (Colene), Keith (Tamee), Collette Prather, Darrell (Aubrey), and Brian (Lanae). They have 30 grandchildren and one great grandson.
He will always be remembered for his tender heart and his strong testimony of Jesus Christ and love for the gospel.
Services are planned for Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the Del Rio ward building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1881 E. Del Rio Drive, Tempe, AZ 85282.
Family gathering will start at 8:30 am with services at 10 am. Interment will follow at the City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N. Center Street, Mesa, AZ.
