passed away on 22 Jan 2017. Don was born in Mesa to Hershell Carlton Sweet and Edna Esma Lewis Sweet on 7 Dec 1943.
He graduated from Chandler HS in 1962 and attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.
Don is survived by his two nieces, Debbie Sweet Hancock and Gunnar Hancock of Chandler, Sharon Sweet Hood and Brian Hood of Atlanta, GA, great-nephew Brent Hood and his wife Mary Ellen of Wilson, NC, great-nieces Tanna Ritter Finnvik and husband Paul Finnvik of Gilbert, Amy Ann Ritter and Isaac Curiel, of Chandler, Leigha Ritter Darr and husband Andrew Darr of Gilbert, and Stacey Lynn Hood of Atlanta, and great-great nieces and nephews Nathaniel Ritter-Felix, Cole Finnvik, Jaryn Ritter-Felix, Harlee Finnvik, and Piper Finnvik. He was preceded by his parents and his brother Joe Carlton Sweet.
Don worked for the State of Arizona at the Agriculture Inspection Stations before returning to Chandler. He was also a long serving crossing guard for Chandler Schools at Knox Elementary School.
The family will be holding a private ceremony later this week.
