On February 4, 1958, Doris married Leo R. Hunsaker in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Early in their marriage, Doris and Leo, along with their children, served a Church construction mission in South America from 1963 to 1966. This experience was an important chapter in their family’s life of faith and service.
Doris was a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher, artist, musician, and woman of deep faith. She is lovingly remembered by her 12 children: Dorilee (Jason) Farnsworth, Dawn, Dayle (Larry) Jackson, Monica (Curt) Shumway, Kay (David) Rush, Leo Ray (Catherine), Steve (Heidi), Rebecca Barney, Brita (Michael) Binns, Douglas (Louise), Kathlyn (Terence) Davidson, and Ryan. She was also blessed with 54 grandchildren and 92 great-grandchildren, a beautiful legacy of love spanning generations.

She was also an artist, gardener, and talented decorator of wedding cakes. Her creativity and willingness to share her gifts enriched the lives of her family and those around her.
Her family will fondly remember her famous blueberry pancakes and the playful phrases she shared, including “gobblety-gook with a wooden spoon” and “the light of a bat at the height of the moon.” These special memories reflect the humor and individuality that made Doris so memorable to those who knew and loved her.
A Woman of Faith
Doris had a strong and abiding faith. She loved studying the scriptures, especially the book of Isaiah, and sought to live according to the principles she cherished. Her faith, devotion to her family, creativity, and quiet acts of service were important parts of her life.
