Edward A. Roberts

Surrounded by family at his home in Chandler, AZ, Edward A. Roberts passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023. He was 85 years old.

Born in Irvington, NJ to Samuel and Marie (Kurz) Roberts, Ed lived for many years in Irvington, Union, Clark, and Madison, NJ before settling full time in Chandler, AZ in 1999.

Ed enlisted and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966. He continued his service by donating blood as often as he could, donating in excess of 9 gallons throughout his life. Ed went on to have a distinguished 40-year career with Prudential, obtaining his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) Designation and retiring as Director of Computer Systems Analyst in 1994.

Ed was an avid traveler, going on 51 cruises for a total of 586 days at sea. He made many friends while participating in handball in East Hanover, NJ, and pool volleyball at his community pool in Sunbird Golf Resort in Chandler, AZ. He also joined the hiking club and enjoyed riding his bike during his retirement years. Ed loved candy, desserts, and his daily lunch of a soft pretzel and an orange, always eaten over the sink. More than anything, he cherished his time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren, whether spending time all together at Christmas, or sharing his love of travel with a family cruise.

Ed was predeceased by his brother, Robert Roberts, and his sister, Barbara Roberts.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jeannie Roberts; by his children, Edward A. (Debra) Roberts, Cindy (Dan) Roberts, and Susan (Edward) Pico; and by his grandchildren Nicholas (Mary) Pico, Christina Pico, Erin Murphy, and Edward E. Roberts; and by a host of extended family, colleagues, neighbors, and friends.
