Emilia “Millie” Moreno Villa, lovingly known to many as Mother, was born on July 9, 1943, in Hill, New Mexico, to Esteban Mendoza Moreno and Rosa Alejo Moreno. Millie was one of twelve children and survived by her youngest brother, Leroy Moreno. She passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at her home in Chandler, Arizona.
Millie married, Jose Luis Villa, known as Louie, on August 17, 1960. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering love. Millie and Louie were blessed with five children: Connie (Phillip J. Otero), who preceded her in death; Vicki (Christopher J. Saiz), Jose Luis Villa Jr., Gina Sosa and Cecilia Villa.
Millie was a devoted and proud grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
She dedicated many years of service to the City of Chandler, where she worked as a Spanish/English interpreter and court clerk. Through her work, she compassionately helped countless individuals navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Millie was the heart and matriarch of her family. She could often be found on the sidelines of football fields, track or at baseball and softball games, cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her strength, love, and presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on through the generations she so lovingly nurtured.
