Eric Michael Hanson, 65, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025.
Born on March 7, 1960, in Seattle, Washington, Eric was the beloved son of Harlan Bert Hanson and Monica Marie Rock Hanson. He grew up in Santa Rosa, California before moving to Phoenix to attend DeVry University. He went back to Santa Rosa to pursue additional education at a junior college before he moved permanently to Arizona in 1981 where he remained until his passing.
Eric built a long and successful career in the scale industry, eventually finding his true passion in the world of technology. A self-taught and highly skilled computer expert, Eric became a respected IT Network Support Technician, known for his problem-solving skills and patience.
He was a man of deep love and unwavering loyalty—especially to his wife, Cindi Hanson, who was the center of his world. Though he and Cindi never had children, their home was always filled with love thanks to their cherished dogs. Eric was predeceased by his beloved fur babies Kelo, Whit, and Nitro, and is survived by Luci and Crosby, who will miss his gentle presence.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Harlan Bert Hanson, and his brother, Todd Henry Hanson. He is survived by his loving mother, Monica Hanson, sister Lynn Reininger and her husband David Reininger, nephews Trel Hanson and his wife Aliena Hanson and Parker Hanson, and many friends who will forever remember his kindness, humor, and ready smile.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Eric was a devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants, the Las Vegas Raiders, and NASCAR—especially drivers Kyle Busch and Ryan Blaney. He found joy in warm-weather cruises and always wanted to cruise the Caribbean. No matter how many times he had been there before. He loved the beauty and warmth of their turquoise waters.
Those who knew Eric knew a man who was generous, warm-hearted, and effortlessly friendly. His life touched many, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of calling him a friend.
In keeping with Eric’s laid-back and casual spirit, there will be no formal service. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the summer or early fall, with details to be posted on his Facebook page in late July.
