Life Story
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents J. T. and Ora Lee Cox; brothers, Kenneth “Sonny” Cox and Chester Cox; sisters, Margie Cox Newsome, Emily Cox Wiggins and Laura Grace Cox and his wife Betty Cox of 27 years.
Ernie served in the United States Air Force 1950 – 1953. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1953 – 1986. After his retirement he worked in real estate.
He loved playing games…like dominoes and solitaire on the computer. He also was the king of ‘one-liners’ like “see you at the pool hall” and “be kind to yourself.” Ernie had a love for reading.
Ernie was a loving husband, stepdad, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Ernie loved God, was a faithful member of the local Baptist church and loved teaching Sunday School.
A Viewing will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 from 10:00 - 11:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225 . A Committal Service at Graveside will follow at San Tan Memorial Gardens, 22425 E. Cloud Road, Queen Creek, AZ 85142.
