Gary Thomas Winkelmann

Gary Thomas Winkelmann, 78, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on October 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and lifelong friends.

A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Gary dedicated more than 26 years to military service before continuing his career with the U.S. Customs Service and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Gary is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Madeleine Winkelmann; his former wife, Esther Winkelmann; his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn Winkelmann and Roberto Torres; his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Christie Winkelmann; and his four grandchildren, Mason, Chase, Roman, and Hayden Winkelmann.

Gary will be remembered for his lifelong friendships, love of the outdoors, passion for world travel, and unwavering dedication to his family and country.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at 10:30 am at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
