George Marsh

d. January 26, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we are writing of the passing of George Marsh on January 26th, 2024. George was born into and spent his early years on the family cotton farm in Casa Grande, Arizona. During his youth in Casa Grande, George exceled at school sports, where he led his football team to a State Championship in 1951. While farming he earned his pilot’s license at the age of seventeen to take care of his fields. With his loving wife Norma, they raised three children on the farm until George was injured in a farming accident. While recovering, he decided to leave farming and pursue a degree in medicine. This took him and the family to Chicago, Illinois where he graduated from the Northwestern University School of Medicine with a degree in Dentistry.

Upon graduation the family returned to Arizona where he and Norma established a private practice in Flagstaff. During his career in Flagstaff, George was honored with the Dentist of the Year Award by the Arizona Dental Association. After a 30-year career, George and Norma retired to Sun Lakes in Chandler, Arizona. Their retirement years were spent enjoying travel, including many cruises as well as tours of Europe. They also spent many happy hours traveling in their RV and enjoying the United States.

George was a man of many fine qualities, foremost of which was his love of family. This was demonstrated by his involvement in dog breeding and showing, motorcycle dirt track racing, hunting, skiing, and other outdoor activities with his children.

George epitomized the professional man with his tireless work ethic, strong faith, integrity, honesty, sense of community, and unwavering support for those around him. He was a humble man with a loving and giving heart. He is also remembered for his joke telling and somewhat offbeat sense of humor.

George was proceeded in death by his loving wife of 67 years and is survived by three children, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is missed by all.
