Hung Van Dinh

June 17, 1955 — June 26, 2025

Hung Van Dinh laid his head to rest and peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2025, in Chandler, Arizona. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose warmth, quiet strength, and smile will be deeply missed.

Hung was born in Sài Gòn, Việt Nam. He built a life grounded in love, hospitality, loyalty, humility, and care for others. He was known for his bright smile, unwavering dedication, and deep love for people. His career in hospitality spanned over 50 years.

Hung found great joy in bringing people together through food and shared experiences. In 1983, he opened his own restaurant, The Plum Tree—a dream that reflected his passion for service and community. He later transitioned into the resort hospitality industry, where he led, managed, mentored, created, and operated with excellence. Most knew him simply as “Chef,” but many more called him “friend.” He left a lasting impression on all who had the honor of working alongside him.

His greatest joy was his family and the time he spent with loved ones. He welcomed everyone he met with open arms, a warm smile, and a listening ear. To know Hung was to be embraced—not just into his home, but into his heart. His love was steadfast and quiet, yet profoundly felt by all who knew him.

Hung is survived by his loving wife, Kari; his children: Torin (Christina), Travis, Tracy, and Thu (Chris); his grandchildren: Hieu (Kelsey), Nathan, and Jacob; and his great-granddaughter, Elyse. He is also survived by his beloved siblings in Việt Nam and a large extended family.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday July 5th at 10-11 AM at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225, with a funeral service beginning at 11 AM.

We will carry his legacy forward—with love, gratitude, and cherished memories.
