James F. Laird

passed away on January 29

th

, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson’s and cancer.

Jim was born in 1934 and spent his early year years in Ohio.  It was there that he met and married the love of his life, Susie.  They moved to a small farm after starting their family.  Jim worked at Marion Power Shovel before moving on to be a Postal Carrier.  The winters were too cold and full of snow, so Jim transferred to Phoenix and moved his family here in 1964.  He retired from the USPS in 1989.

During his retirement, he and Susie spent a great deal of time traveling, seeing sights, and visiting family.  They took this opportunity to spend time with grandkids taking them on vacation.  They were lucky enough to celebrate their 50

th

wedding anniversary two years prior to Susie’s death in 2005. Jim had a warm and giving spirit that allowed him to be a part of so many people’s lives, reaching out never expecting anything in return.

Some of his best times over the last few years were when Jim was spending time with his grandchildren, Matthew and Jordan, especially when they would bring over a pizza and watch ball games with him.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Susie, and daughter, Sue Ellen.  He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Faulkner, sons, Michael (Janet) and William (Cynthia), as well as nine grandchildren.

He’ll be greatly missed by all those lucky enough to have known him.  No memorial is planned.
