With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our mother Jocie Hayes who peacefully left us at the age of 82 at Mercy Gilbert Hospital in Gilbert, Arizona. Her vibrant soul, love, kindness, and selflessness echoes in our hearts.

Jocie Hayes was born on May 8, 1943, in New Boston, Texas, to Timothy G. Forte and Katie Carson. She was the youngest of 14 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers, four sisters, and her son, Vincent A. Hayes. She is survived by her daughter, Regine Culberson-Onwordi, her son Victor A. Hayes, and a wide network of extended family and lifelong friends, in whom her memory will continue to live on.

Jocie dedicated her life to caring for her family and was a pillar of strength to all who knew her. She lived in Flint, Michigan, before moving to Arizona, and worked for General Motors for over thirty years before retiring.

Jocie found joy in spending time with family and friends, watching sports, listening to music, fishing, playing the piano, and crocheting. She cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by her loved ones, especially when sharing delicious meals together. 

Though you have moved beyond, you are with us always. Rest in peace and love.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm with a Memorial Service from 5:00 - 6:00 pm at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, Arizona 85225. Per the family's wishes, a private burial will be held at a later date.
