John (Jack) Wallace Humphreys passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026 in Chandler, AZ. He was born in Johnstown, PA on May 8, 1930 and is the only child of Anna Mae Ellis and John Edward Humphreys.

Jack grew up in Johnstown, and excelled in art after graduating from high school in 1948. He joined the Army Reserve in 1953 and served 3 years.

Jack married Jean Ellen Hoover in 1955 and had three children before heading west in 1960, settling in Phoenix, AZ, where they had three more children.

After the move to Phoenix, Jack continued in his art by working for a sign company as a commercial artist. Jack was hired by First National Bank of AZ to develop their money order program and worked his way up to Vice President. As a banker, he was well known and trusted in the banking community and retired from Wells Fargo after 30+ years with the bank.

In 1986, Jack married the love of his life, Margaret (Peggy) Louise Weis and they shared 40 wonderful years together.

Jack spent 30+ years volunteering for: UMOM, where he cooked for the homeless; Chandler Regional Hospital, where he was a liaison for patients having surgery; and Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport as a Navigator.

Jack loved art and painting with water color. After retiring Jack was associated with the Scottsdale Art School and eventually became president of the school. He was an avid golfer, loved cooking, traveled to many places around the world, created many lifelong friendships and was a dedicated member of the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees.

Jack was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Beth Ann Humphreys. He is survived by his wife Peggy, children Patricia Claire Arnot (Todd Arnot), Lynn Marie Willis (Tom Willis), Lisa Jean Wilde (Paul Wilde), David John Humphreys and Susan Mary Wilde (Brent Wilde), 12 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. We love him very much and are proud and grateful for all he has accomplished in his life. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Jack will be cremated and placed in a garden niche of his beloved church, Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, where the immediate family will hold a private ceremony.
