John Harold Muskett

October 22, 1945 — April 28, 2026

John Harold Muskett, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at his home in Sun Lakes, AZ.

Born on October 22, 1945 in Dearborn, MI, John was the son of Harold and Katherine Muskett. He built a life defined by dedication—to his family, his country, his profession, and the communities he loved. He shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Susan Muskett, a partnership marked by enduring love, friendship, and shared adventure.

John earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University in 1968 and later completed his Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of Detroit in 1975. Following his undergraduate studies, he served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, where he was a Tank Unit Commander.

John enjoyed a long and meaningful professional career. He retired from Ford Motor Company, where he worked in personnel, and also shared his knowledge and passion for psychology as an instructor at the University of Detroit and Henry Ford Community College. Among his fondest memories were his college summers spent as a lifeguard at Camp Dearborn, where he formed friendships and experiences that stayed with him throughout his life.

A man of wide-ranging interests, John remained deeply connected to his alma mater through involvement in the Michigan State University alumni association and was a devoted fan of MSU football. He was also a proud member of the Ford Yacht Club, where he pursued his love of competitive sailing, including participation in several Port Huron to Mackinac races—an accomplishment he cherished. He also enjoyed golf, running, and, most of all, spending time playing games and creating memories with his grandchildren and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Katherine Muskett, and his brother, Michael Muskett.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Muskett; his son, John C. Muskett (Marjorie); his daughter, Laura Kurichh (Sanjay); and his cherished grandchildren: Ryan Kurichh, John Casen Muskett, Brandon Kurichh, Emma Muskett, and Madeline Muskett. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Arnold (Robert), and his loyal dog, Bear.

John will be remembered for his steady presence, his commitment to family, his love of learning and competition, his storytelling, and the joy he found in life’s simple moments.

In lieu of flowers, John would appreciate donations to any animal welfare organization in honor of his lifelong love of dogs.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
