John Philip Chitwood

John Philip Chitwood, “Johnny” to friends and family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 9 at 7:20 in the morning surrounded by family and friends in his Chandler home. Eldest son of Pat (maiden name, Andersen) and “Bud” Chitwood, he is survived by his brother Charles Robert (Bob) Chitwood and his wife Julie, sister Carol Fairall, nephew Bobby Chitwood, niece Jolie Chitwood, nephew-in-law Kendall Noxsel, and nephew Donnie Fairall.

Johnny was a third generation native Arizonian and lived nearly his entire life in the town and home where he grew up.  As a young man he enjoyed his cars and running around in style, and yet he came to find contentment in a life of simple pleasures. A farmer to his core–a hard worker, Johnny made his living in the hay business–tilling, planting and harvesting. He earned a good reputation as a helpful neighbor and was thought of kindly by many.
