Another fallen soldier and hero left us on April 14, 2023. John Van Riper, 74 of Chandler, Arizona. He joined the Army in 1967 to an honorable discharge in 1970 to fight for his country. A barrage of sniper fire ended a combat mission of the 162

Assault Helicopter Group during the Vietnam War, wounded my 20-year-old soldier. John was the greatest husband, best friend, love of my life, and father. He also Pioneered the Ocean bicycling surfing on Florida beaches.
John is survived by his wife Carla Van Riper and three children, Kim Harris, Scott Van Riper and Tim Van Riper and three grandchildren, Faith Van Riper, Aubrey Harris, and Nick Van Riper.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023, from 12 pm to 4 pm at 739 North Brandon Dr, Chandler, AZ 85226.
The Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 10:30 am at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
