José Ramón Tejada Castro, age 73, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at Park Senior Villas, where he had resided for the past few years.
Born on December 27, 1951, in La Romana, Dominican Republic, José Ramón was the youngest child of Modesto Tejada and Carmela Castro de Tejada. He was a deeply loved brother to his three sisters: Anubis, Carmen Julia (who preceded him in death), and Daysi. He was known for his quiet, loving nature and was a man who cherished the simple joys of life.
José Ramón was a devoted individual who lived with gratitude, compassion, and deep faith. He had a profound love for his family and was always there to offer support, encouragement, and a warm smile. Throughout his life, he embraced spirituality and found solace in his community, often attending worship services at Park Senior Villas and connecting with others through his strong faith in God.
He was a man of few words but had a deep appreciation for the world around him, from the beauty of nature to the advancements of technology. He enjoyed listening to classical music, reading the newspaper, and staying aware of the changes in the world.
José Ramón is survived by his two sisters, Anubis Tejada Morales and Daysi Tejada, as well as numerous extended family and friends who will remember him for his kindness, integrity, and gentle spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Modesto Tejada (67) and Carmela Castro de Tejada (74), and his sister, Carmen Julia Tejada (83).
A Funeral Mass will be held in José Ramón's honor on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Basilica, 231 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85004. The Interment of his urn will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Valley of the Sun Cemetery – Chapel Mausoleum, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248.
José Ramón’s life was one of quiet grace and deep faith, and he will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, resting in God’s eternal embrace.
