Joseph Brinton Wise
His family lived in Ogden, Utah, then moved to Minnesota and Illinois. In Minnesota, he met his future wife, Gayla Irene Stokes, at a young age.
In 1961, Joseph was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Argentina for 2½ years. He had a successful, productive mission there with much success.
Shortly after his return from his mission, Joe and Gayla fell deeply in love, and were married 10 months later in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Joseph and Gayla were blessed with five beautiful children, 24 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and more on the way. Their most-cherished blessing was their family.
Joe’s family, strong faith, and Christian values were the foundation of his happy life. The LDS Church and service to others were a very important part of their lives. He served as Bishop, Bishop Counselors, Ward Clerk, Scoutmaster, and so on.
They were participants in the Mesa Easter Pageant for 3 years, a very special time. Safety projects on hiking trails at a girl’s camp were an important service, also. Joe loved being in the mountains and Nature.
Joseph had slow-growing prostate cancer for many years and passed away after 59 years of joyful marriage.
