Karen Marie Peyton

On Thursday, December 3, 2020, Karen Marie Peyton, loving wife and mother to two children, passed away at the age of 59.

Karen was born on July 2, 1961 in Brooklyn, NY to Arthur and Alice Brown. She moved to Chandler, Arizona as a child, and received her high school diploma at Seton Catholic High School. She married Lee Peyton on December 9, 1982. Lee and Karen raised two children, Leigh Danielle and Lee Ryan.

Karen loved spending time with family and friends. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips back home to New York City. Wherever she was going, she liked to see the sights and eat delicious local food. She had an adventurous spirit, was incredibly smart and quick witted.

There wasn’t anything Karen couldn’t do once she put her mind to it. She accomplished so much! She sold Avon, earning so many awards there was not room to display them all. She served as Treasure for her community’s homeowners association; and while on the board, she planned memorable events that fostered belonging in her neighborhood. She was a licensed tax preparer and earned her real estate broker’s license. Most importantly, because connections and community were very meaningful to Karen, she would spend her free-time volunteering- either with St. Vincent de Paul or with the Arizona Democratic Party. She loved to laugh.

Above all else, Karen was a devout Catholic and leaned on her religion through difficult times. She carried her rosary with her always and would speak of Mary and the saints often.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Alice, and sister Candice. She is survived by her husband Lee and her two children, Ryan and Danielle.

A funeral service was held at 11am, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chandler, AZ 85225. A recording of the service is available here:
