BARNEY, Katherine Mecham

– Queen Creek. Katherine Mecham Barney (90) was born 13 September 1928 in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and passed away 1 April 2019 in Queen Creek, Arizona. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.  She resided in Queen Creek with her family for over 70 years and was a devout member and leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Newell, and children, Gail (Pam), Brenda (Alyn), Marilyn, Kenneth (Cindy), Janet (Jay), and Sharon (Dan). She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucian and Sarah Katherine (Kate) Mecham, her daughter, Geraldine Thompson, and siblings, Hazel, Veda, Melvin, Gerald, and Arthur. She has 7 children, 44 grandchildren, 132 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be on Monday, 8 April 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Queen Creek North Stake Center, 22035 E. Ocotillo Rd, Queen Creek, AZ 85142.  Visitation will be held Sunday, 7 April 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Stake Center and 11:30-12:30 prior to the service.  Interment will be at the San Tan Memorial Gardens, 22425 E Cloud Rd, Queen Creek, AZ.
