Kelvin Kelly Baldwin
was born July 6, 1987 in Chandler, Arizona. Even at a young age he was a hard worker and ambitious. He earned his Eagle Scout award and graduated from Chandler High School at sixteen years old. Before he was eighteen, he was foreman for a construction company. In 2005 he joined the United States Army. After boot camp, he served an LDS mission to Honduras. He was deployed to Iraq in 2007. While serving as the lead gunner, his Humvee hit an IED injuring Kelvin. He suffered from a head wound and shrapnel which pierced his right ear and back of his head. In his military service, he earned several distinguished awards including: a Purple Heart, Army Accommodation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Armed Forces Service Medal. He was honorably released from the Army reserves while serving in the 56th military police company. Later in life, he discovered a love of breaking horses and worked full-time to make his dream of boarding and training horses a reality. From his time in Iraq, Kelvin suffered from PTSD, which affected all areas of his life, but he found joy in working with his horses and spending time with his two children. Kelvin lived big in every sense: he loved fully, he hugged tightly, he worked ceaselessly, and he dreamed abundantly. He is survived by his wife, Merrin Baldwin, and his young children Lincoln and Cecilia Baldwin, along with his loving parents Carol and Kelly Baldwin, and his siblings Brandon (Melissa) Baldwin, Jeremy (Kaylee)Baldwin, and Jessica (Chase) Carlson. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who adored him. Kelvin will be greatly missed.
