Kimberly Kay Richmond

Kimberly Kay Richmond was born on September 17th, 1968, in Phoenix, Arizona at Good Samaritan Hospital. Kim was born to Phyllis and Charles Richmond. She weighed approximately three pounds and was cute as a doll. She passed away May 6th, 2023, in Chandler, Arizona. Kim was the oldest of five children. She was a devoted aunt to 11 nieces and nephews and one great niece.

Although Kim was born with cell damage, that did not stop her from being an avid reader and student. Kim loved learning. Kim graduated from South Mountain High School and continued her education at South Mountain Community College. Kim was extremely hard working and was a dedicated worker at Fry’s for many years.

Kim attended classes weekly to continue learning and growing. Her favorite classes were crafts and cooking. She would come home and give us tips on cooking and even helped cook ribs! Kim recently learned how to make her own bracelets.

Kim had a passion for reading, puzzles, painting, and cooking shows. She loved I love Lucy and Coke. Kim developed a love for camping and was looking forward to the upcoming Memorial Day camping trip with her brother and sister-in-law.

Kim loved everyone deeply. She was kind, funny and selfless. She worried about everyone and prayed for everyone but if you ever got a letter from Kim, you were in trouble. Kim was loyal, brave, and loved fiercely.

Kim was the best sister. She was our second mother and did her best to feed us and take care of us whenever mom and Jesse were away, even though “the boys” were ornery (not Dawna).

Kim spent her later days doing what she loved most, reading as many books as she could get her hands on, working on puzzles, and she tolerated crime shows to spend time with her mom. Kim was a wonderful daughter and loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Richmond and her stepfather, Jesse Boswell, Grandfather O.J. Bounds, Grandmother Mary Bounds, Grandfather Jack Richmond, Grandmother Betty Richmond and her niece Sophie Gaines.

She is survived by her mother, Phyllis Boswell and four siblings, Jay Richmond (Michelle Richmond), Jack Richmond (Tifini Richmond), Glenda Richmond, and Dawna Gaines (Daniel Gaines), 10 nieces and nephews, Keeley Richmond, Daniel Richmond, Kat Crane, Jackson Richmond, Tyler Richmond, Cole Richmond, Jadyn Crane, Juliette Bopp, Scarlett Richmond, and Eli Gaines.

Please join us in remembering Kimberly Kay Richmond on Saturday, May 13th, at the LDS Chapel at 1950 West Galveston St. Chandler, AZ 85224. There will be a family prayer at 9:30AM and the funeral services will begin at 10AM. A luncheon will follow the service.
