Louis Davis Austin

On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, Louis Davis Austin, affectionately known as “Tip”, died in Chandler, Arizona. After a beautiful morning walk with the love of his life, he collapsed and was not able to be revived. He was 84 years old.

Tip is survived by his wife of 52 and a half years, Anna; their beloved children, sons Alexis and Daryl, daughter Arethea (Erwin), her husband Dan, and granddaughter, Chloe.

Tip was born on August 4, 1936, in Brenham, Texas to Bud and Ethel, his brothers Johnnie, Shelby and sister, Ethel. Tip enlisted in the Air Force in 1955, this started his love of traveling. Tip always had a thirst for knowledge and completed his education with degrees in Computer Science and Sociology. Tip was an avid music lover, especially jazz. He could listen to a record and tell you who was playing what instrument. He was an ace at cards and dominoes as well as a sport enthusiast. He was quick witted, appreciated a good cup of coffee and loved his hot sauce.

One thing not always immediately apparent when meeting Tip was that he was blind. Though some might label him as disabled, this was not a deterrent from Tip pursuing anything he put his mind to accomplishing, including college and entrepreneurship. He was successful in his secular achievements.

But he felt his greatest accomplishment was when he decided to join his wife by dedicating his life to be baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1972. He felt an obligation to share what he learned with others and signed up to participate as a full-time minister, he wanted to give Jehovah God his best. Tip found deep joy and satisfaction in helping others with their problems. He offered sound practical as well as spiritual guidance and viewed each person he met as a potential Brother or Sister. He took all of his responsibilities seriously and simultaneously did a full-time volunteer ministry and held a full-time job providing for his family, emotionally, spiritually and physically for many years.

Anyone who met Tip, would never forget him.
