Luke Sipe

July 21, 1971 — July 31, 2025

Luke Sipe, aged 54, passed away peacefully at home with his family in Ahwatukee, Arizona, on July 31, 2025, after a brave battle with stage IV cancer.

Born in Sedalia, Missouri, on July 21, 1971, Luke spent his early childhood in Charlotte, North Carolina, before his family relocated to Chandler, Arizona, in 1985. He graduated from Chandler High School, attended Arizona State University and in 1997 began his fulfilling 28-year career as a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines—a career that became his passion. At Southwest, Luke not only connected with people from all walks of life, but also met the love of his life, Georgi.

Luke and Georgi shared 24 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with a daughter, Marlee, born August 7, 2004. He was a devoted husband and father whose love and care were felt deeply by his family, friends, and coworkers.

He had an incredible gift for forming genuine connections. His kindness and warmth made a lasting impact on everyone he met. Luke also dedicated himself to assisting the softball team at Akimel A‑Al Middle School, leading them to numerous championships and instilling values of teamwork and confidence in young athletes.

Luke found joy in simple pleasures—spending precious time with family, friends, and his beloved dogs.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ada Pearl Sipe, and father, John Lafayette Sipe Sr. He leaves behind his wife, Georgi Sipe; daughter, Marlee Sipe; siblings Regina Short (Charlie), Michelle Bolick, Ruth Faircloth, and John Sipe Jr. (Nikki); his in‑laws Carole and George Jarden; along with many nieces, nephews, brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law, and dear friends.

A gathering to honor Luke’s memory will be held on August 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Foothills Golf Club, located at 2201 E Clubhouse Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85048. Luke’s family looks forward to welcoming all who loved him to share memories and celebrate the impact he made on so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Hospice of The Valley, or Kyrene Middle School sports programs—endeavors that reflect Luke’s generous spirit and love for youth.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love and support in recent months. The kindness shown is a testament to the community Luke helped build through his compassion and friendship.

Luke Sipe’s warmth, laughter, and light touched innumerable lives. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.
