MARGARET MARY SERRANO-FOSTER

Margaret Serrano Foster, 70, passed away March 25, 2026, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

A 4th generation Arizonan, Margaret was an Arizona native to her core, but by accident of circumstance she was born at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on September 14, 1955, where her father was a Field Artillery Commander. Margaret returned to Chandler with her parents in 1956, and Chandler remained her main home for the rest of her life. Margaret was the first of eight children born to Rudy and Colleen Serrano. Margaret’s late grandfather, Albert P. Serrano, founded a dry goods business in Chandler in 1919, which later became Serrano’s Department Stores and Serrano’s Mexican Restaurants. Margaret spent her childhood and teen years working in the family business.

Margaret attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Chandler High School in 1973. Margaret started her college career at NAU but returned to Chandler in the spring of 1974 to begin her forty-five-year tenure in the title business. Margaret eventually obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree from ASU in 1987. At various points in her career, Margaret held executive positions with Minnesota, Commonwealth, LandAmerica, and Old Republic title companies. Margaret’s interpersonal skills and dynamic business acumen served her well in her business life. While in the title industry, Margaret was elected president of the California and Arizona Land Title Associations and was recognized in 2018 for her community efforts with Old Republic Title’s Humanitarian Award. Margaret was truly loved and respected by those in her industry.

Margaret married Ed Foster of Casa Grande in 1978. Although a busy professional and career woman, Margaret became a mother with the birth of her only child, Randall Foster, in 1989. Randall and Margaret shared a special mother-son relationship, and enjoyed golfing and traveling together, including a trip to Ireland in 2004 with Randall’s maternal grandmother, Colleen. Margaret’s one wish for Randall was to have a happy and successful life. During Randall’s childhood, there were many summer trips to San Diego to enjoy time with Randall’s paternal grandparents, Bill and Peggy Foster, on their sailboat. In her later years, Maragaret and her life partner, Bruce Robinson, spent summers in Pinetop, Arizona, golfing and socializing with family and friends.

The Girl Scouts of America was close to Margaret’s heart. Margaret was a past chair of the Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, which serves thousands of Girl Scouts and volunteers. She played a key role in conceptualizing, designing, building, and fund-raising for the Parsons Leadership Center for Girls & Women (formerly Camp South Mountain), a facility which will serve Arizonans for generations. The swimming pool at the Parsons Center is named in Margaret’s honor recognizing her many contributions to the Girl Scouts.

Margaret is predeceased by her parents. Margaret is survived by her son, Randall Foster (Taylor), her brothers, Joe, John (Heidi), Kevin (Shan) and Steven (Steve Schopf); her sisters, Susan (Cliff Jones), Mary Ann (Jeff Evans) and Cookie (Jane Hill); many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; her long-time partner, Bruce Robinson, his daughter, Jill, and her former husband, Ed Foster, of Casa Grande.
