Maria Teresa Vargas of Mazatlán, Mexico (1942-2026) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family in her home in Chandler, Arizona, on January 16, 2026, at the age of 83. 

As the Matriarchal figure of her family, Maria took pride in the family that she created. She presided over the family during every Birthday, Christmas, and Graduation, watching the result of her lifelong commitment to building a family thrive. 

It was through her sacrifice after immigrating from Mexico with her children that she paved the way for the success of the next generation of her family. She always stressed the importance of hard work and dedication. She wanted her children and grandchildren to have all the opportunities she never had. She loved telling stories, cooking for all her grandchildren, and watching her family flourish. 

She is survived by her four children, Silvia Guillermina Rosales, Ramiro Rosales, Maritza Rosales Gonzalez, and Maurice Rosales (and spouse Pia Ballesteros Rosales). She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Gabby (and spouse Steven and sons Desmond and Logan), Lisa (and son Daniel Jr.), Richie (and daughter Mia), Tatiana, Julian (and spouse Kelsi and son Zephryan), Robert (and spouse Suz), Miranda, and Mariah. She is also survived by her six siblings Miguel Ángel, Jesus, Eligio, José Luis, María Lilia, and Rocio.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 10:00 - 11:00 am with a Scripture Services at 11:00 am at Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler, AZ 85225. Interment will follow at Mesa City Cemetery, 1212 N. Center Street, Mesa, AZ 85201.
