, 88, of Chandler passed away peacefully on January 30, 2018.
She was born on February 8, 1929 in Tiffin, Ohio. She graduated in 1947 from Calvert Catholic High School in Tiffin. She and her husband worked as custodians at St. Mary-Basha Catholic School in Chandler for 15 years. She was a devout member of the Catholic faith. Marie loved her family of 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren very much. She is missed deeply by them.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Benedict “Ben” Hammer; her parents Paul Steinhauser and Eleanor (Elchert) Steinhauser; her siblings baby Jean, Joseph, Ruth, and Irene (Jim) Whelan. She is survived by her children Karen Hammer Ottawa, OH, Mike (Julie) Hammer Manchester MI, Lois (Tap) Menard Yakima WA, David Hammer Findlay, OH, James (Cindy) Hammer Gilbert, AZ, and Jennie (David) Lane Oro Valley, AZ; siblings Carl (Carol) Steinhauser, Tony (Mary)Steinhauser, Aggie Peiffer and Donna(Garry) Kin all of Tiffin, OH and Cyril (Mary) Steinhauser of Monroe, Michigan ; grandchildren Bernadette, Sarah, Shelaine, Tristan, J.T., Aaron, Tricia, Emily, Kiara, Christi, Andrew, Matthew and 8 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday February 5 from 6-8 at Bueler’s Mortuary 14 W. Hulet Dr. Chandler. Mass of Christian burial services will be at 10 am Tuesday February 6 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 230 W. Galveston St. Chandler. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetary in Mesa.Donations may be made to St. Mary-Basha Catholic School 200 W. Galveston St. Chandler, AZ 85225.
