Mark Joseph Stoll, Sr.
, age 81, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Mark was born in Manilla, Iowa, on August 19, 1939, to Elizabeth (Ellen) Schulte and Joseph L. Stoll. In 1958, Mark graduated from Seton High School in Chandler, AZ, and went on to start his life’s work in the masonry construction business. Mark married Sylvia Valdez on June 22, 1961, at St. Mary’s in Chandler, AZ. He was a loving and devoted father to his three boys and their spouses, Mark Jr. and his wife Diana, Andrew and his wife Theresa, Paul and his wife Kristine, and his daughter Heidi. He will forever be remembered as a loving and goofy Papa by his grandchildren: Vanessa, Mark III, Jacob, Alexi, Victor, Jonah, Cassie, Abby, Matthew, and great-grandchildren: Rhett and Levi. Mark is also survived by his sweet and loving sister Elsie Ann Stoll.
In 1964, Mark founded the masonry company, Stoll Masonry Inc., that he would later co-own with his brother, Bob. Mark loved his work and the sense of purpose it brought to his life. With a great sense of pride, he was able to turn over his life’s work to his three sons and nephew. Work that they carry on in his honor today.
The viewing will be on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Bueler’s Mortuary on 14 W Hutlet Drive in Chandler, from 6-8 PM, with the Rosary at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held the following day, Thursday, January 14, 2021, at St. Mary’s Parish- 230 W Galveston Street in Chandler at 11:00 AM.
Mark and Sylvia are members of Seton Catholic Preparatory’s first graduating class of 1958. Their four children and nine grandchildren also attended Seton. The Stoll family is working with Seton’s Advancement Office on a Special Project in honor of the legacy that Mark and Sylvia started so many years ago. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Advancement Office at Seton Catholic Preparatory.
