Marlene Ruth Marxman

It is with great sadness we have lost our beloved Marlene Marxman, on September 14, 2023 at the age of 90 years. Marlene Ruth (Wear) Marxman was born on June 10, 1933 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Edward and Lucille Wear. Growing up in Eau Claire, Marlene found a love for baseball when her parents would host minor league ball players, including Hank Aaron. In 1951, she graduated from Eau Claire High School. Within days of her graduation, Marlene married Richard H. Marxman, her high school sweetheart. Their honeymoon was driving to Winslow, Arizona with her parents and little brother David, who had moved to Winslow the year before. From 1951-1956, Marlene and Richard lived in Winslow. During this time, they had two girls, Linda, born in 1952 and Karen, born in 1956. Marlene worked as a telephone operator, while Richard worked for Arizona Public Service. While living in Winslow, Marlene and Richard met and became great friends with Howard and June Jensen. The families remain entwined to this day.

In 1958, Marlene and Richard moved their family to Chandler where they established their lives. Their son David was born in 1958 and son Michael was born in 1969. During her years in Chandler, Marlene attended and was involved with various groups at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church until her death. She worked for Motorola, CPA Carol Ward, and last but not least, the Bonngard Family, working at Sir Speedy. Marlene loved spending time with family and friends. Her best friends from birth were twins, Diane and Donna. Until their deaths, the three families stayed close. In the mid 1960’s, Marlene and her family moved to Dakota Street in Chandler. This is when her family became an extended family to next door neighbors Vince and Myrta Stever and their daughters, Lynn and Shelley. The families are still close today.

Marlene was an avid sports fan, whether it be baseball, football, or soccer. She also liked to watch dance or ballet. If there was a child, grandchild, great grandchild, niece, or nephew that had a game, a dance, or a ballet, she would do her best to go watch their game/performance.

Marlene is survived by her children, Karen Miller, David Marxman (Kristen), and Michael Marxman (Happy); her grandchildren Davy Marxman, Alicia Marxman, Brett Tafoya, Marty Miller, Cody Miller, Andrew Marxman, Rainer Marxman, Brandon Marxman, Courtney Maxon, Kayla Marxman, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Rachel Wear, nieces Laurie Ahumada, Darby Downs (Scott) and Jani Hopkins, and nephews, Bill, Danny, and Ronnie Wear, and Rick Hopkins.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lucille Wear, husband, Richard H. Marxman, brother, David W. Wear, son-in-law, Cecil Tafoya, grandson, Michael Tafoya, and daughter, Linda Tafoya. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Elevate Hospice, especially to Bob, Marlene’s hospice nurse. He was wonderful to her before her passing and to family after her passing.
