Mary Susan Collins

Mary Susan Collins, 85, formerly of Kankakee, IL and Marin County CA, died peacefully August 4, 2025 in Chandler, AZ. She was born January 17, 1940, the daughter of Arthur T. and Beatrice Grenier Collins in Kankakee, IL. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School and Mount Mary University and had a lifelong career in special education as a teacher, coordinator and district supervisor in California and Arizona. 

Susan enjoyed traveling the world, sailing, exploring and adventuring. She loved the ocean, and forests, camping and hiking in Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it was holidays, traveling, ladies weekends, or any excuse for a party.

Susan is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mae Collins, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in –law James and Patricia Collins, and John and Joan Collins.

A Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at the Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary, 14 W. Hulet Drive, Chandler AZ. 

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 10;00 am at St. Steven's Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Rd, Sun Lakes, AZ 85248.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, August 22, 2025 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 428 S. Indiana Avenue, Kankakee, IL 60901. Interment will follow at 1:00 pm at All Saints Catholic Cementary in Bourbonnais, IL.
