Read life story:

Mary was 3 when she and her mom, Sebastiana, immigrated to Brooklyn, N.Y. from Sicily to join her father, Sebastiano Trovato.  Her older sister Nancy remained with her grandparents in Sicily with hopes that they would be reunited.  Soon she had a younger sister named Vera.  WWII interfered with uniting Nancy with her family. Tragically they lost their mom to breast cancer when they were very young.

Mary met John Asciutto when they were 15 years old and they fell in love at first sight.  Together they raised six children in Brooklyn, 18 years later moved their family to the suburbs of Rockland County, NY and in 1978, they made their final home here in Arizona.

Quite the Italian homemaker, her family was filled with love, laughter and great respect for each other.  Her children’s friends were always welcome and became part of the big family she always dreamed of. Mary loved children, cooking for her family and baked cheesecakes upon request. She always made birthdays special.  She loved scrabble, pinochle, peonies, daisies and the simpler things in life. Mary was devastated when her beloved John passed away almost 8 years ago.  Her strong family support and great grandchildren got her through it. She will be missed but not forgotten.
