, 82, of Chandler, AZ, passed peacefully on February 1, 2023. Jackie was born on March 1, 1940, in Snowflake, AZ, to the late Cyrus Rodwell Jackson and Nellie Foutz Jackson. She was the fifth of eight children. She was a dearly beloved wife and mother. Her greatest passion was her family and sharing the love of Christ with all.
She spent her childhood in Pinedale, AZ and moved to Denver as a teen. After returning to Arizona, she married Keith Lee Shumway. They spent the first year of their marriage in Germany. They raised their six children in Chandler, AZ.
Jackie gathered people from every walk of life. She made special effort to make sure all felt and knew that they were loved and valuable. There was always room at her table for whomever entered her home. She was happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved. As each departed, she would often ask, “What’s your hurry?” hoping for a little more time. She is fondly remembered for her big hugs, “I love you” and “You are special.”
She is fondly remembered by the numerous individuals she served as a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She blessed the lives of many as a Seminary and Institute teacher, Young Womens President, Relief Society President, Group Leader at Randolf State Home for the Handicapped, Bishop’s Storehouse missionary and in the SanTan Reservation Branch.
