Nancy Jean (Fine) Coburn

June 11, 1942 — April 24, 2024

Nancy Jean (Fine) Coburn, 81, a devoted follower of Christ, beloved wife of 62 ½ years, cherished mother, grammie, daughter, and friend, peacefully transitioned from this world to the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of April 24, 2024.

Nancy is now joyfully reunited in eternal peace with her parents, Claire Jane Eavenson and William Andrew Fine, her brother David Whitney Fine, and many other cherished family and friends.

She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 62 ½ years, Gary Lou, her children Gregg (Jennifer), Carol (Dan), Noriko (Dan), Leo Ray, and Karen (Dan), as well as by her 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many other cherished family members and friends.

Born in Kingston, PA on June 11, 1942, Nancy excelled academically at Kingston High School in PA and pursued higher education at Geisinger School of Nursing, earning a Registered Nursing degree. Despite the challenges of raising four children and relocating for her husband's Navy career, Nancy pursued her academic aspirations, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from George Mason University and ultimately a Master’s Degree in Social Work from San Diego State University. She dedicated many years of service to San Diego County, embodying her commitment to helping others.

Nancy, Gary, and Leo found their forever home in the City of Maricopa about 20 years ago and became active members of First Baptist Church of Maricopa, where they served as dedicated leaders.  Her compassionate spirit led her to engage in various ministries and charitable endeavors, including creating baby blankets for the NICU, sewing puppy blankets for the shelter, making beautiful diamond art pictures for family and friends, cataloguing family photos, and crocheting hats for cancer patients. For many years, she is remembered as the heart and soul of the art and crafts at VBS. She especially held dear to her heart the many years of handing out love and hugs, food, clothing, diapers and encouraging words at both the women’s center and the food pantry.

Nancy's legacy of love, faith, family and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.  As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved and in the memories we hold dear.

A Celebratioin of Life will be held for Nancy on Monday, April 29, 2024 at 6:30pm at the First Baptist Church of Maricopa, 18705 North John Wayne Parkway, Maricopa, AZ. 85139.
