Nora “Noris” Amaro

03/30/1959- 07/04/2022

Nora was born in Torreón, Mexico to Joaquin Espino and Emilia Fuentes and was one of 15 siblings. In November of 1987, Nora moved to Chandler, Arizona where she met her husband, Hector Amaro Sr.

Hector was introduced to Nora at Lupitas home. He decided to extend an invitation to his work’s Christmas party in December of 1987. When he arrived, Noris stepped out in a low cut, backless, black dress and fur coat. From that very moment their love story began. She was baptized in the Church of Latter-day Saints in April of 1988 and soon after Hector and Nora joined hands in marriage on May 7, 1988. Several years later, their love and marriage was sealed in the Mormon temple.

Nora was the life of the party. She could dance until the sun came up and sing her heart out on karaoke. She was not someone who worried about what anyone thought of her. Noris era una chingona who would defend and protect her family no matter the circumstance. Her family was her pride and joy.

No matter what life brought her way, Nora’s favorite way to show her love was through her amazing cooking. Watching her family enjoy a meal she had prepared while exchanging stories, laughter, and second (or third) helpings always brought a smile to her face and peace to her heart. You could never leave her home with an empty stomach.

Although Noris is no longer with us, she will never be forgotten. Nora will be survived through her husband Hector Amaro Sr. as she is the greatest love of his life. Her daughter, Lisa Guerrero and her children Arrian, Camilla, Sebastian, and Bella. Her son, Robert Guerrero. Her son, “Tiquis” Hector Amaro Jr., his spouse Vanessa and children Blayze and Annalee. Her son, “Juanito” Juan Amaro, his wife Brooke and their fur babies Max, Maggie, Marble and Monte.

She will be remembered every time we attempt to reproduce one of her amazing meals. It may never be as delicious but when we sit to enjoy it together she will always be with us.
