, 80, passed peacefully on August 28, 2022, at Parkland Memory Care in Chandler, Arizona.

Patricia was born September 14th, 1941, in Scottsdale, Arizona to Jewell and Jennie Spurlock. She attended Maricopa schools and graduated as valedictorian of Maricopa High School in 1961. She attended Central Arizona College and Arizona State University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1975. She earned a Master’s in Education and Education Administration degrees later in her career.

Patricia taught elementary school at Maricopa for 25 years and finished her career as the Curriculum Director of Maricopa school district for 5 years, retiring in 2005.

She was an active member of the BPW in Maricopa, the Salvation Army, Maricopa Library, Maricopa Community Church, and Maricopa Historical Society. She wrote and published several books including

Maricopa, Our Town

and

Reflections of a Desert Town

, about the town and city of Maricopa and its people. She was well known by friends, colleagues, and family as a kind, soft-spoken, but hard working and independent woman.  Patricia had a drive and compassion for giving her entire life, whether it be for family, students, friends, or the common good of the community.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harry Brock. She is survived by her sons Sam (Bertie), Barry (Mary), and Rex Brock; grandchildren Kayla, Clay, and Carter Brock; and great grandson Harrison Brock.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Bueler Funeral Home in Chandler from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 10 AM at Bueler, followed by the burial at Valley of the Sun Cemetery in Chandler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Maricopa Historical Society (maricopahistory.org).
