Ramon E. Stone

October 21, 1940 — February 2, 2024

Ramon (Ray) E. Stone, 83, of Maricopa, AZ died Friday, February 2, 2024, at Chandler Regional

Hospital. He was born October 21, 1940, in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Byron Franklin Stone and

Mabel Mae (Sweeney) Symmonds. He married Hallie Heberling in 1962 and later married Susan A.

Brown in 1980.

 

Ray is survived by his wife; Brother (Jim Stone); two children, Sabre Wedeking of Castle Rock,

Colorado and Deanika (Ryan) Schnierle of Bloomington, IL; seven grandchildren - Stone, Lauren,

Madeline, Medley, Grayson, Crayton, and Crawford; and many nieces and nephews. He was

preceded in death by his parents; stepfather (Guy Symmonds); and one brother, Robert “Bob”

Stone.

 

Ray served 4 years in the United States Marine Corp as a Radio Operator. After playing sports in

the Marines and around the area (Catcher for the Red Legs), he started his career in the car

business with Howard Hembrough Motors in Jacksonville, IL. His love for the car business took

him all over the United States and gave him the opportunity to lead large dealerships and show

others his passion and heart for the business. Ray retired after 50+ years.

 

In retirement, Ray enjoyed Sunday drives (every day of the week), hearing stories & spending time

with his grandchildren, golf, and his dog Buddy. His legacy will live on through his grandchildren;

especially Stone who carries his name.

 

His family will continue to enjoy ice cold milk, vanilla milkshakes, and Oreo cookies in celebration

of his life.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Whitney & Murphy Bueler Mortuary in Chandler, AZ
