Raymond John Wojtas

August 22, 1941 — May 23, 2025

Raymond John Wojtas passed away on May 23, 2025. He was born August 22, 1941 to parents Joseph Wojtas and Helen Tomal in Chicago, Illinois, and brother Richard Wojtas. He worked at a young age contributing to his family, then served the US Army in Berlin. Upon return, he established a decades-long career selling lumber and married Rosalind Martello, with whom they raised three children: Joseph Wojtas, Raymond Wojtas, Jennifer Wojtas. He also had a grandson, Zachary Katich. He moved to Arizona in 1996.

Ray was a man of integrity and faith. He loved deeply and his compassion was felt by countless charities. He made efforts to always be just a little more patient or sensitive to another's position. He was strong, independent, and brave but also incredibly kind and selfless. He believed in honor and the value of a person's character above all else. He hated bullies and had a soft spot for life's challenged characters.

Ray was a man of routine; a week consisted of reading books, learning from unbiased news, enjoying shows, and attending Sunday mass at his community church. He didn’t need much, appreciating function over frills. He loved the serenity of nature and enjoyed fishing.

If there was a worldwide award for giving the warmest greetings, he would have won it hands down; his eyes full of love, a bright, warm smile and open arms. He will be deeply missed.

Raymond will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
