Rebecca Christina Leitner “Becky”
Rebecca Christina Leitner “Becky”, age 76, passed away on September 18
th
, 2023. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Leitner. Survivors also include her 3 children, Michele (Brandon Deatherage), Rachel Porter, and Mark (Amy); 3 grandchildren, Nathan (Teresa Villalobos), Allison Mckoy (Kristian), and Dedra Porter. Rebecca had 9 great grandchildren, with another baby on the way. Surviving siblings are, Dirk White (Tracy), Mitch (Linda), and Warren (Sharon). She is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Harvey White, as well as 3 brothers, Terry Allison, Mark and Doug White.
Rebecca was born on May 29
th
, 1947 in Fargo, North Dakota. She attended grade school, eventually graduating from Central High School, Class of 1965. Rebecca attended North Dakota State University for a short time. She and Robert married on June 2
nd
, 1967 and in 1970 Rebecca became a mother. After two family moves, she was back in Fargo until 1985, when the family moved to Arizona. In Fargo, Rebecca was employed at Fargo Clinic and was active in Hope Lutheran Church. In Chandler, Rebecca worked for the Chandler Unified School District. She was also very active in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, feeding the homeless, serving coffee on the patio, and working on the funeral committee.
Rebecca loved to decorate for the holidays – EVERY single holiday!! She decorated the house, her clothes, her earrings, and the yard. Butterflies were her favorite items to collect, and collect she did!!
She loved children and children loved her back! After she retired, she often had a “charge” or two that she would babysit. Becky LOVED Bob! She was an unfailing, adoring wife and the two did everything together. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her driving force. Raising two of her grandchildren from infancy. Rebecca had a unique sense of humor, and never hesitated to give her opinion. She was so ornery, but had a big heart. She liked to read, play scrabble, go to the movies, and visit with friends and family.
Special acknowledgement and gratitude is given to Rachel – for taking loving and thorough care of Rebecca, 24/7/365. Rachel never left her side and kept her comfortable and peaceful, up until the final moments.
